Roughriders 6, Bellmawr 0 June 23, 2014
HADDONFIELD - Dave Young allowed just two hits over six innings, earning his first Roughrider win, in a 6-0 whitewash of Bellmawr. Young took a no-hitter into the sixth inning, losing the no-hit bid after yielding a clean single to left with two outs. The first year player struck out nine batters and walked only one. The Roughs gave Young all the runs he needed in the second, when they scored three times. Andrew Juliani and Alex Reinicker each provided an RBI fielder's choice to score two of the runs, and Juliani singled in Dene Vespe in the next inning to make 4-0. Juliani finished 1-3 with two RBI and a run scored. Phi Guinto and Adam Bartholomew each had two hits and an RBI as well. The win was the team's fourth straight.
Roughriders 5, Golden Nugget 0 June 24, 2014
WINSLOW TWP - Mike Reagle pitched a complete game, five-hitter as the Roughriders defeated Golden Nugget by a score of 5-0. Roughrider pitching has now gone 14 consecutive innings without allowing a run. Reagle struck out three and walked none en route to his second win of the year. In a scoreless tie, the Roughs strung together four consecutive hits in the third inning, all with two outs, to break the game open. Run scoring hits by Dave Young, Eric Juliani, Greg Myers and Andrew Juliani accounted for the four runs. Young hit a leadoff triple in the seventh and came home on Adam Bartholomew’s sac fly to close out the scoring. The team banged out 13 hits, led by Mark DiArenzo's 3-4, which included a double.
Roughriders 6, Washington Twp 1 (6 innings) June 25, 2014
HADDONFIELD- The dominant pitching performances continued in a 6-1 victory over visiting Washington Township. Nick Cavanaugh improved to a team-leading 3-0 record, tossing a complete game, two-hitter. Cavanaugh carried a no-hitter into the sixth, but a one out single to left broke up the lefty’s bid. He finished with four strikeouts and three walks. Adam Bartholomew doubled in two runs in the bottom of the first, and Mark DiArenzo doubled in two more in the fifth to lead the offense. The Roughriders look to sweep Week 4 on Friday when they face CHBR at home.
Roughriders 11, CHBR 1 June 27, 2014
HADDONFIELD - Mike Byrnes went 4-4, including an RBI triple and three stolen bases, as the Roughriders closed out a perfect week and defeated CHBR 11-1. Byrnes' four hits paced a season high 14-hit effort by the team, which has now won seven straight. Dene Vespe earned his first victory of the year, hurling five effective innings. Vespe did not allow an earned run, and limited CHBR to three hits (3 BB, 5 K). Eric Juliani went 3-4 with two RBI and two runs scored.
