HADDONFIELD - Mike Carlino scored the winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning in the Roughriders' 6-5 season
opener. Carlino raced home with the winning run from second base on Andrew Frangos' booted grounder with one out in the final frame.
Mark Kraus picked up the victory with 2.1 innings of scoreless relief (2 H, 3 BB, 3 K). Cherry Hill got to starter Ryan McNamara with a five-spot in the
fifth to tie the game after the Roughs had built a 5-0 lead. McNamara, making his second consecutive opening day start, went 4.2 innings
(5 H, 5 R, 4 ER, 4 BB, 5 K). The Roughriders jumped out to a 2-0 lead after two inning on a sac fly by Mike Cummings and an RBI double by Rob Oryl.
That lead increased to 5-0 when Cummings delivered again with a run scoring single, followed by a Frangos two-run double scoring Carlino and Cummings.
Cummings finished 2-3 with two RBI to pace the offense. Adriano Petrutz, in his Roughrider debut, walked three times and scored twice.
