CHERRY HILL - The Roughriders hit three homeruns in one inning, totaling seven runs, and Derek Zaleski pitched the team’s second complete game of the year in an 8-4 victory over Cherry Hill West. Eric Juliani launched a grand slam to start the scoring and Phil Guinto immediately followed with a solo shot to make the score 5-0. It was Juliani’s second of the year, and Guinto’s first. After Chris Vonderschmidt reached on an error, Ryan Easterday hit his second of the year to make it 7-0. Zaleski went the distance, giving up eight hits and striking out four in earning his second win of the season. Juliani finished with five RBI.
Roughriders 2, Mack Ice 0 June 30, 2011
RUNNEMEDE - Dan Snyder threw his second consecutive complete game, a four-hit shutout, as the Roughriders defeated Mack Ice 2-0. Snyder struck out nine and walked just two in a commanding performance. Adriano Petrutz helped account for both runs. He singled, stole second, and eventually scored on a wild pitch in the first for a 1-0 lead. In the fifth, Andrew Frangos doubled to lead off the inning, stole third, and scored on Petrutz’s RBI groundout. Snyder improved to a team best 3-0 on the season. The Roughriders close out June with an 8-5 record and in second place in the overall standings.
