WEST DEPTFORD – Phil Guinto hit a grand slam with one out in the top of the seventh to rally the Roughriders from a 4-2 deficit to a 6-4 victory over West Deptford. Guinto sent a 1-1 pitch over the left field fence for his second homer of the season. Three consecutive singles by Rory McTear, Mike McGee, and Eric Juliani set the stage for Guinto’s heroics. Derek Zaleski earned his third win of the season versus no losses by notching his third complete game of the year. Zaleski went all seven innings, allowing eight hits and two earned runs. He walked two and struck out five. The Roughriders entered the seventh down 4-2, with their only runs to that point coming on Anthony Mungiole’s two-run homer in the fourth inning. It was Mungiole’s first of the season. With the win, the Roughs swept the season series from West Deptford, 3-0.
Roughriders 7, Mudddogs 2 July 20, 2011
LINDENWOLD – Adriano Petrutz hit two home runs and drove in five runs as the Roughriders ran their win streak to four games with a 7-2 over the Muddogs. After a walk to Andrew Juliani and single by Matt Heinkel, Petrutz homered to center to give the Roughs a 4-1 lead in the second inning. In the fifth, he again homered to center with Heinkel aboard to increase the lead to 7-2. Frank Houser, making his first Roughrider start, went the distance, giving up no earned runs. He allowed just four hits, striking out two. Eric Juliani hit his team-leading third homerun of the season in the first inning. The Roughriders took all three games versus the Muddogs this season.
Golden Nugget 3, Roughriders 1 July 21, 2011
BERLIN – The Roughriders were held to just five singles offensively in a 3-1 loss to Golden Nugget. With the win, Golden Nugget took the season series from the Roughs, 2-0. The home team jumped out early on starter Mike Reagle, scoring two runs in the first. Back-to-back singles by Phil Guinto and Ryan Easterday in the fourth were followed by a Rory McTear sac fly to pull the Roughs to within 2-1. But Golden Nugget got a valuable insurance run in the fifth to secure the win. Reagle recorded a complete game despite the loss, allowing six hits and two earned runs. He struck out six and walked just one.
Cherry Hill 7, Roughriders 5 (6 innings) July 22, 2011
HADDONFIELD - Cherry Hill built a 6-0 lead over the first three innings, and then held on for a 7-5 win over the Roughriders to gain a split of the season series (1-1). The Roughs mounted a comeback with a five-run fourth inning to pull within 6-5, featuring RBI’s from Anthony Mungiole, Matt Heinkel, and Adriano Petrutz. Cherry Hill then tallied a single run in the fifth to complete the scoring, and the game was called on account of darkness in the top of the seventh.
