QTR-FINALS

Roughriders 4, WT Senators 1 July 31, 2013
Game 1 - Qtr-Finals
HADDONFIELD – The Roughriders defeated the Washington Twp Senators by a score of 4-1 to take a 1-0 series lead in their Quarter Final playoff matchup. Nick Cavanaugh pitched a complete game to lead the way, allowing only four hits and an earned run. He struck out four and walked four to record his first Roughrider playoff win. The game reamined scoreless until the fifth, when the Roughriders would break through by playing small ball. Mike Brynes led off with a walk, and when Andrew Juliani's sacrifice bunt was thrown away down the right field line, Byrnes rounded the bases to break the 0-0 tie. Back-to-back singles by Dean Wilson and Phil Guinto would load the bases for Alex Reinicker, who drove in Juliani with a sac fly or a 2-0 lead. Dean Vespe would follow with another sac fly to increase the lead to 3-0. That's all Cavanaugh would need, earning his sixth win overall in 2013. The teams will meet in Washington Twp tomorrow night for Game Two.

Game 2 - Qtr-Finals
WASHINGTON TWP– Mike Reagle scattered seven hits in a complete game effort, as the Roughriders defeated the Senators 1-0 and swept the Quarter Final playoff series. Reagle walked none and struck out four in earning his first TriCounty playoff shutout. Only twice in the game did the Senators threaten. In the second, a leadoff single and subsequent double put runners at second and third. But Reagle induced three straight pop ups to end the inning. In the fifth with two outs, Reagle allowed a flair single to right followed by a slicing single to left that eluded Eric Juliani and reached the wall. But Juliani quickly retrieved the ball and fired a strike to cutoff man Phil Guinto who nailed the potential tying run at the plate to preserve the lead. Reagle would get the only run he needed in the first, when Guinto reached on a HBP and went to third on Alex Reinicker's double. Dene Vespe then hit a sac fly to center for the lone run of the game. The Roughriders will now face Cherry Hill, the number three seed, in the Semi Finals beginning on Monday night.
