HADDON TWP – The Roughriders knocked off lead-leading Hardenbergh by a score of 11-8. The Roughs overcame deficits of 5-0 and
8-4 in winning their fourth straight. The comeback started with a four-run fourth inning, cutting Hardenberg’s lead to 5-4. That inning featured RBI from Matt
Cassell, Joey Craig, Alex Renicker, and Ryan Easterday. Trailing 8-4 in the fifth, the Roughs hit Hardenbergh with a five-spot to take the lead for good. Tyler
Easterday and Reinicker delivered RBI singles and Mike McLauglin’s two-run single with two outs scored the tying and winning runs. Mark DiArenzo earned the win
with two innings of relief work. The Roughriders had a season-high 14 hits and 11 runs. The game was called in the top of the sixth due to darkness with the Roughs
still batting.
Golden Nugget 6, Roughriders 4
July 21, 2015
WINSLOW TWP – The Roughriders saw their win streak snapped at four, in a 6-4 defeat to host Golden Nugget. The Roughs tied the
game at 1-1 in the fifth inning, thanks to Phil Guinto’s RBI double scoring Alex Reinicker (2-4, RS, RBI). But Golden Nugget scored three unearned runs in their
half and then two more in the sixth without a hit. The Roughs got a bases loaded walk from Mark DiArenzo and a sac fly from Joey Craig to pull within 6-4 in the
seventh, but left runners at second and third to end the contest.
CHBR 13, Roughriders 8 (6 innings)
July 22, 2015
CHERRY HILL - CHBR, the league’s last place team, defeated the Roughriders by a score of 13-8. With the loss, the teams split
their season series 1-1. The Roughs opened the scoring in the top of the first by scoring twice, but then watched as CHBR scored seven times in the bottom frame on
just two hits. An error, hit batter, and five walks that inning set the tone for which the Roughriders would not recover. Offensively, Tyler Easterday went 3-4 with
two runs scored as the Roughs out-hit CHBR 12-8, but Roughrider pitching allowed 13 walks in losing their second straight game.
Excel One, 12, Roughriders 3
July 24, 2015
HADDONFIELD – Regular season champion Excel One defeated the Roughriders 12-3, swept the season series, and sent the Roughs to
their third straight loss in the team’s regular season finale. A trend of gift wrapping runs was evident again in the first inning, when Excel One scored five runs
on just one hit. The Roughs battled back to within 5-3 in their first at-bat, getting RBI from Ryan Easterday (single), Mark DiArenzo (double), and Mike Byrnes
(sac fly). But Excel One tallied one in the third, three in the fourth and two in the fifth to break the game open. Adam Bartholomew went 2-3 with a run scores
and stolen base to help support the offense. The Roughriders finish 2015 as the tenth overall seed and will host 11-seed Bellmawr in a one game playoff on Sunday.
Game time is 5:30pm.
