Roughriders 3, Camden 2 (6 innings)
June 2, 2021
CAMDEN - The Roughriders made a successful return to the diamond in their season opener, defeating Camden 3-2.
Matt Kennedy debuted by earning the win, pitching three innings of one-hit ball (1 BB, 4 K). Zach Welsher earned the save by pitching the second half of the game
(3 IP, 2 H, 0 ER, 1 BB, 2 K), which would become a familiar theme in 2021. The Roughriders broke a scoreless tie in the fourth when Aiden Nesemeier (1-3) led off with
a single. When Drew Dark's grounder to second with two outs was misplayed and thrown in the dirt to first, Nesemeier broke for third and scored on an errant throw for a 1-0 lead. The Roughs
added insurance in the sixth when Welsher walked and eventually scored on an Isaiah Ishmail RBI single. Ishmail would later score the final run after a Camden balk.
The win marked the team's first game in over 650 days.
