Garton's 5, Roughriders 3 (6 innings) June 30, 2014
HADDONFIELD – Garton’s scored three times in the fifth inning, erasing a 3-2 Roughrider’s lead, and defeated the home team 5-3. Garton’s jumped out to 2-0 lead after one inning, but the Roughs would take the lead in second. Andrew Juliani’s RBI infield single with the bases loaded got the Roughriders on the board, and Mark DiArenzo’s two-out single scored two more for a 3-2 lead. But Garton’s would score three off starter Dave Young (5 IP, 5 H, 5 ER, 4 BB, 6 K) in the fifth, all with two outs, to take the game. The loss snapped a seven game win streak. The Roughs return to action on Wednesday versus Maple Shade before the July 4 break.
Roughriders 8, Maple Shade 2 (5 innings) July 2, 2014
HADDONFIELD - Greg Myers went 2-3, including an RBI double and triple, to lead the Roughriders to a 8-2 victory over Maple Shade. Trailing 2-0 in the fourth, Myers doubled in Adam Bartholomew and Mike Byrnes to tie the game. Andrew Juliani’s seeing-eye single through the right side scored Myers for a 3-2 advantage. Mark DiArenzo’s followed with an RBI double making it 4-2. Myers would round the bases in the fifth, tripling to deep center to score Byrnes again, and then raced home on an errant relay. Eric Juliani (2-1) recorded a complete game, shortened to five innings due to lightning. He struck out two and walked one, allowing four hits. The Roughs finished June with a 9-4 record, good for 20 points and first place overall in the standings.
