Roughriders 13, Golden Nugget 2 July 7, 2014
HADDONFIELD - The Roughriders scored 11 times in the fifth inning and defeated Golden Nugget 13-2, sweeping the season series. Dave Young earned his second win of the year, notching his first complete game. He struck out six and walked two over seven innings, yielding three hits. The Roughs took a 1-0 lead in the first when Mark DiArenzo walked, stole second, went to third on the throw, and scored on Phil Guinto’s sac fly. Back-to-back doubles by Adam Bartholomew and Eric Juliani made it 2-0 in the fourth. The 11-run fifth featured seven different hitters recording an RBI. Juliani finished the evening with three hits, while Guinto and Bartholomew each drove in three apiece. The team’s 16 hits were a season-high.

WASHINGTON TWP - Nick Cavanaugh pitched a complete game three-hitter, but it wasn’t enough as the Roughriders lost to Washington Township 2-1. Cavanaugh struck out two and walked none over six innings, limiting Washington Township to two runs. But the Roughriders managed just three hits in the game (two by Andrew Juliani), and only scored in the sixth inning when Mark DiArenzo hustled home on a passed ball to make it 2-1. The Roughs look to rebound tomorrow night in Cherry Hill versus CHBR.
Roughriders 16, CHBR 3 July 9, 2014
CHERRY HILL - Phil Guinto hit two home runs, his team leading third and fourth of the season, leading the Roughriders to a 16-3 rout of CHBR. The Roughs scored early and often, jumping out to a 5-0 lead after one inning, and tacking on seven more in the third for an insurmountable 12-1 lead. Eric Juliani picked up his third win of the year, going five efficient innings. He allowed two runs on five hits, striking out four and walking one. Guinto finished with two homers, a double, two walks, and five RBI. Adam Bartholomew drove in three runs, including his second homer of the year.
Roughriders 5, Hardenbergh 4 (8 innings) July 11, 2014
HADDONFIELD - Phil Guinto hit a walk-off double in the eighth inning, scoring Alex Reinicker, to help the Roughriders defeat Hardenbergh by a score of 5-4. The home team jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the third inning, highlighted by Adam Bartholomew's and Eric Juliani’s RBI singles. Starter Dene Vespe held Hardenbergh scoreless through five, but three runs in the sixth and one in the seventh tied the game before Guinto’s game winner in the eighth. Vespe hurled seven innings, allowing six hits and four runs (2 ER, 3 BB, 4 K). Mike Swietanski recorded his first win of the year in relief, working a scoreless eighth.
