BELLMAWR - Garton’s defeated the Roughriders 2-1 to take a 1-0 lead in the best-of-three TriCounty Finals series on Tuesday night.
In a low scoring affair, Garton’s scored a run in the fourth, but the Roughs answered right back in their next at-bat. With two outs in the fifth, Thomas
Gosse and John Tedeschi hit back-to-back singles to put runners on the corners. Tyler Easterday then lined an RBI single to left to tie the game 1-1.
But Garton’s pushed a run across in the sixth on a two-out, bases loaded walk to take the lead and Game One. Carter Fichter pitched well but took the loss
(6 IP, 8 H, 2 ER, 2 BB, 5 K). Game Two is scheduled for tomorrow night at 7pm in Bellmawr.

Roughriders 4, Garton's 3
August 9, 2017 Game 2 - Finals
BELLMAWR - The Roughriders forced a deciding Game Three by beating Garton’s 4-3 behind the pitching of Zach Welsher. Welsher
notched his third win and third complete game of the playoffs, yielding only three hits. He struck out two and walked just one. The Roughs jumped out to an early
4-0 lead after two innings. In the first, Noah Clement singled with one out, advanced to second on a fielder’s choice, and scored when Tyler Easterday’s grounder
to short was booted. In the third, Jack Parkinson’s fielder’s choice RBI scored one run, and Clement’s two-out, RBI double scored Mike Wade and Parkinson to make
it 4-0. Garton’s scored two in the third and one in the fourth to close the gap to 4-3, but would get no closer. Welsher closed out the game by walking the
leadoff hitter in the seventh, but induced a 6-4-3 double play and finished off the game with a strikeout. Clement finished 2-4 with two RBI and a run scored.
The deciding Game Three will be played tomorrow night in Bellmawr at 7pm.

Garton's 4, Roughriders 3
August 10, 2017 Game 3 - Finals
BELLMAWR - In a tight Game Three finale, Garton’s edged the Roughriders by a score of 4-3 and took the 2017 TriCounty
Finals series. The Roughriders struck first in the top of the first, scoring two runs. Noah Clement reached on an error and John Tedeschi and Tyler Easterday
both singled to load the bases. Thomas Gosse’s grounder to shortstop was then misplayed allowing both runs to cross. But Garton’s answered right back with
two runs in their half to knot the game, and two more in the third to gain a 4-2 edge. The Roughriders took advantage of another Garton’s error in the fourth
to narrow the gap. Gosse led off the inning with a double, and after two outs, scored on throwing error to make it 4-3. But the Roughriders would only have
one runner reach base over the final three innings, as Garton’s finished off the series and won the Carter Cup for the second time in four years.
