WOODBURY HEIGHTS – The South Jersey Grizzlies, playing in their inaugural season, used a six-run fifth inning to defeat the
Roughriders 7-3. Mike Byrnes hit a two-run homer in his first at-bat of the year to give the visitors a 2-0 lead in the second. With the score 2-1 in the third,
the Grizzlies loaded the bases on two hits and a walk, but the Roughs turned a 1-2-3-2 triple play to preserve the lead. But a six-run fifth, aided by two
fielding miscues, sent the Roughriders home with a loss in their season opener.

BELLMAWR – The Roughriders were held to just one hit and struck out 15 times in an 8-1 loss to host Bellmawr.
With Bellmawr leading 2-0 in the third, the Roughs mustered their only offensive output of the evening. Drew Dark lead off with a walk and then scored
on Jack Parkinson’s two-out, RBI double to make it 2-1. Bellmawr responded by adding a run in fourth, four in the fifth, and one more in the sixth,
cruising to victory.
