PITMAN - Roughrider pitching produced its second shuout of the playoffs, this time at the expense of the top seeded Garton's, in a 2-0 win. Both teams put up zeroes for the first five innings until the Roughriders broke through in the sixth. With two outs, Eric Sabato and Aaron Graeber coaxed back-to-back walks to set the stage for Ian Murphy. Murphy's clutch two-run double to right center scored both runners for a 2-0 lead. The Roughs then proceeded to walk a tightrope in the seventh. Reliever Mason Dobbs loaded the bases on a single and back-to-back walks, but a shallow fly out to right and a game-ending double play perserved the win. Dobbs was credited with the hard earned save (1.2 IP, 1 H, 2 BB, 1 K) for starter John DiCostanzo. The lefty allowed just two hits and struck out six in five-plus innings in the win. Game Two is scheduled for tomorrow night at the Camden Athletic Complex beginnng at 7:00pm.

August 1, 2023 Game 2 - Semi-Finals
CAMDEN - The Roughriders scored three runs in the fifth inning, erasing a 2-0 deficit, and eliminated top seeded Garton's 3-2 in their Semi Final playoff series. Garton's took a 2-0 lead in the top of the fourth off starter Chris Brown (4.1 IP, 4 H, 1 ER, 5 BB, 5 K) on an error and fielder's choice. In the fifth, the Roughriders would plate three runs to take the lead for good. Jack Murphy and Shane Daly started the rally with back-to-back singles. When Sean Perkins' sacrifice bunt was thrown away, Murphy scored and Daly advanced to third. With Cole McKenna batting, Daly raced home on a wild pitch to tie the game 2-2. With Perkins now at third, Evan Carbone drove in the go-ahead run with an RBI single to make it 3-2. Zach Welsher earned the save with two innings of one-hit baseball. Marty Foust picked up the win in relief of Brown, getting the final two outs in the fifth via strikeout. The Roughriders will meet Cherry Hill/Pitman in the Finals begining next Monday at Alcyon Park. First pitch is 7:00pm.
