Roughriders 1, Hardenberg 1 June 30, 2003
HADDONFIELD – Tom Ford pitched five-hit ball over six innings, allowing the Roughriders to gain a tie versus Hardenberg. This was the first meeting between the two rivals since last year’s semi-final playoff series. Ford struck out five and walked none in his first start of the year. The Roughriders managed only three hits, but were able to scratch out a run to salvage the tie. Ian Wallace reached on an error in the fifth and advanced to second on Matt Johnson’s sacrifice. With two outs, Mike Carlino’s ground ball was booted, allowing Wallace to score the tying run.
Roughriders 5, Deptford 2 July 1, 2003
DEPTFORD - Drew Perry pitched a seven-hit complete game in the Roughriders 5-2 victory over Deptford on Tuesday night. Perry (2-0) walked two and struck out five. The Roughriders opened the scoring in the second inning, courtesy of Jeff Pilling’s two-run single. With the score 3-1 in the fifth, Matt Johnson led off with a triple to right field and came home on Matt Longo’s RBI single. The Roughs would tack on insurance in the sixth. Rob Oryl singled and was advanced to second by Dave Page. Ian Wallace doubled in Oryl to round out the scoring. The Roughriders end the first half of the season at 9-2-3 (22 pts).
