Roughriders 6, Deptford 5 July 14, 2003
HADDONFIELD – Dave Page’s RBI single in the bottom of the sixth scored Rob Oryl to give the Roughriders a 6-5 victory over Deptford Monday night. The Roughs had trailed for most of the game, including an early 3-0 deficit. BJ Amorelli’s RBI single in the fifth tied the game at 4-4, but Deptford again took a one run lead in their half of the sixth, setting up the dramatic finish. Phil Arena started the rally with a leadoff double. Rob Oryl’s sacrifice was thrown down the right field line, allowing Arena to score the tying run. With Oryl at second, Page sent a 1-2 pitch into center field for the game winner.
Hardenberg 6, Roughriders 0 July 16, 2003
HADDON TWP – The Roughriders were defeated by Hardenberg, 6-0, here on Wednesday night. The visitors managed just four hits, and combined with some sloppy defense, made it an easy night for Hardenberg. Brian Spicer (1-3) again pitched solidly but was not given much support. The two teams meet again on Friday night before closing out the season series next week at Radnor.
Roughriders 6, Hardenberg 5 July 18, 2003
HADDON TWP – BJ Amorelli's RBI single in the top of the seventh scored Matt Longo, giving the Roughriders a 6-5 victory over host Hardenberg. With the score tied at five, Longo led off the seventh with a double and then advance to third on a wild pitch. After an out, Amorelli grounded a single down the third base line to score Longo. Drew Perry (3-0) earned the victory, going six innings (7 H, 1 BB, 2 K). Tom Ford secured the win with his third save of the season, getting the final out via a strikeout with runners at first and second. The Roughriders had earlier erased a 3-2 defecit in the third, scoring three runs. Amorelli, Mark Kraus, and Dan Severino all had RBI in the inning. But single tallys by Hardenberg in the third and fifth tied the game, setting up the decisive seventh. Amorelli, Longo, Ian Wallace, and Mike Montanero all contributed two hits on the night.
