SEMI FINALS

Roughriders 2, Hardenberg 1 August 5, 2006
Game 1 - Semi Finals
BELLMAWR - Mike Cummings threw a complete-game, three-hitter in the Roughriders' 2-1 opening game victory over Hardenberg in the TriCounty Semi-Finals. In a game where runs were at a premium, the Roughs broke through first in the third inning when Dan Severino (1-2, BB) scored from third on a botched pickoff attempt at first base. In the sixth, the Roughs got some much needed insurance when Steve Wyland tripled leading off the inning. Rob Oryl's sac fly to center made it 2-0 as the game entered the seventh. Hardenberg threatened to tie the game by getting their first two runners on, but Cummings shut the door by getting the final three outs and stranding the tying run at third.
Roughriders 5, Hardenberg 4 August 6, 2006
Game 2 - Semi Finals
BELLMAWR - Dave Vadurro's two-run single in the top of the sixth proved to be the difference in the Roughriders' 5-4 win over Hardenberg, advancing the team into the TriCounty Finals. Down 4-3, Rob Oryl started the sixth inning rally with a walk. A walk to Dan Severino and hit-by-pitch by Mike Carlino setup Vadurro's (2-3, 2 RBI) game winner. Dan McKenna picked up the win with 2 2/3 innings of relief work, yielding two hits and striking out five. The Roughriders jumped to quick 1-0 lead in the first on back-to-back doubles by Ian Wallace and Carlino. With the scored tied 1-1 in the fourth, Severino (2-3) gave the Roughs a 3-1 lead with a two-out single scoring Steve Wyland (1-2, 2B, 2 BB) and Mike Cummings (1-2, 2 BB). But Hardenberg would score twice in the bottom of the frame to tie it and push across a run in the fifth to take a short-lived lead until Vadurro's heroics. Severino preserved the win by nailing the potential tying run at the plate from right field in the bottom of the sixth for the third out. McKenna then struck out the side in the seventh to complete the sweep. The Roughriders will meet Conlin Baseball beginning on Tuesday night.
