Roughriders 2, Conlin Baseball 1 July 24, 2007
WASH TWP - Rob Oryl and Phil Arena each hit solo homeruns in a 2-1 victory over Conlin Baseball. Mike Cummings (7-0) went the distance, striking out eight and walking three. Oryl led off the second with his first homer of the year to make it 1-0. Arena led off the seventh with his first to give the Roughs a 2-0 lead and provide the margin of victory.
Roughriders 4, Lumber Kings 1 July 25, 2007
HADDON TWP - Mike Carlino hit a walk-off homerun in the bottom of the seventh in a 4-1 win over the Lumber Kings. With the score tied 1-1, pinch-hitter Paddy McNamara singled to left to start the seventh, then beat the throw to second on Phil Arena's sacrifice bunt. Carlino followed with a homer over the left field wall to give the Roughs the win. Chris Monaco earned his first Roughrider win with an inning of work (0 H, 3 K). Brian Spicer went the first six, allowing five hits and an earned run. He struck out six.
Roughriders 4, Moorestown 2 July 26, 2007
MOORESTOWN - Ryan McNamara pitched a complete game, one-hitter in a 4-2 Roughrider win. Mike Carlino homered for the second consecutive game, a three-run shot that gave the team a 3-1 lead in the third. Paddy McNamara's RBI triple in the fourth scored Mike Plakis for the final tally. McNamara struck out four and walked six, allowing only an earned run.
Roughriders 9, Bellmawr 4 (5 innings) July 27, 2007
HADDON TWP - Phil Arena went 3-4 with three RBI and two runs scored as the Roughriders rolled over Bellmawr 9-4. Winning pitcher Chris Monaco (2-0) pitched the first two innings, allowing no runs and striking out three. Andrew Slifer worked the next 2.2 innings (3 H, 4 R, 4 ER, 5 BB, 1 K) and Mike Arena got the final out for his first save of the season. The team finishes the season 17-4-2 (38 pts) and second overall in the standings. The playoffs begin Monday with the Roughs hosting the seven seed, to be determined this weekend.
