Roughriders 5, Camden 2 July 6, 2009
CAMDEN - Brian Spicer threw a complete game, five-hitter in a 5-2 win over Camden. Spicer walked three and struck out five in earning his second win of the season. Eric Juliani's RBI single scored Mike Carlino (leadoff single, stolen base) in the fifth to break a 2-2 tie and give the Roughs the lead for good. Carlino's sac fly in the seventh scored Chris Brooks and Jeremy Clark raced home on a pass ball for the Roughs' final run. Clark went 3-4 on the evening.
Roughriders 8, Cherry Hill West 3 July 7, 2009
CHERRY HILL - Mike Reagle picked up his first win of the season, a complete game effort, in a 8-3 win over Cherry Hill West. Reagle scattered nine hits to even his record at 1-1. He struck out five. Leading 1-0, Adriano Petrutz and Mike Carlino got things started in the third with back-to-back singles. A double steal and throwing error that scored Petrutz was followed by an Eric Juliani RBI single to make the score 3-0. Rob Oryl's RBI groundout in the top of the fourth plated Andrew Frangos (leadoff double) to increase the lead to 4-0. The Roughs then broke the game open in the fifth, when Carlino doubled in Petrutz and Phil Arena to make it 7-1. Petrutz went 3-4, including a double and RBI. Carlino finished 2-3.
Pat's Steaks 5, Roughriders 2 July 8, 2009
HADDON TWP - The Roughriders saw their modest two game win streak snapped on Wednesday night, losing to Pat's Steaks 5-2. The Roughs' 1-0 lead evaporated in the fourth inning, when Pat's scored all five of their runs off starter Dan D'Orio (1-2). Diorio went four innings, giving up six hits. He struck out one and walked two. The Roughriders close out the week with a home game versus Camden on Friday.
Roughriders 1, Camden 1 (8 innings) July 10, 2009
HADDONFIELD - The Roughriders and Camden played to a 1-1 tie on Friday night. Rob Schork threw all eight innings, giving up eight hits and striking out seven. The Roughs took an early 1-0 lead in the second when Dan Diorio hit a two-out double to left, scoring Mike Cummings all the way from first. That lead stood until the sixth, when Camden pushed a run across to tie the game. The Roughs threatened in the sixth and the seventh inning, putting runners in scoring position both times, but failed to get the big hit.
