HADDONFIELD – Nick Cavanaugh pitched a five-hit, complete game in the Roughriders’ 8-2 victory over Deptford in the opener of
their Quarter Final matchup. Cavanaugh struck out four and walked one for his second career playoff win. With the score tied 1-1 in the fourth, Eric Juliani
walked with one out and advanced to second on a wild pitch. With two outs, Andrew Juliani’s RBI single to center put the Roughs up 2-1. A six-run fifth would
blow the game open, highlighted by Dene Vespe’s two-run single. Andrew Juliani finished the night 3-3 with two RBI. The game was shortened to six innings due
to darkness. Game Two is tomorrow night in Deptford.

DEPTFORD – Dene Vespe hit two home runs in his first two at-bats, including a three-run shot in the first inning, leading the
Roughriders to 13-10 win over Deptford and a sweep of their first round series. Vespe’s homer in the first put the team up 3-0,
and when Phil Guinto followed with a grand slam the next inning, the Roughs had a 7-3 lead. Vespe also homered in the second, a solo shot, extending the lead to
8-3. Alex Reinicker capped off a night of wild scoring with a two-run single in the fourth for a 13-7 lead. Starter Dave Young earned the win, pitching five
innings (9 H, 7 ER). The game was again shortened to six innings due to darkness.
Series Notes:
-This was the third meeting between the two franchises, and the first win for the Roughriders.
Deptford took both Semi Final series in 1991 and 2007.
-Vespe’s two home run game was the first multiple HR playoff game by a Roughrider since Gary Urban hit three back in 1990 versus Dominic’s (Haddon Heights).
-The Roughriders advance to the Semi-Finals for the 16th time in their history.
