WASHINGTON TWP - The Roughriders combined timely hitting and another dose of Mike Shannon to defeat Titans Baseball 4-2 and take a 1-0
lead in their Semi Final playoff series. Shannon again was outstanding, throwing his second consecutive complete game. He allowed six hits, walked one, and struck out
five. In a scoreless contest, Thomas Gosse' walked with one out in the second. After an out, Shane Daly walked to setup Nate Johnson, whose RBI single put the Roughs on top 1-0.
Eric Sabato followed with his own RBI single scoring Daly for a 2-0 lead. In the third, Monny Strickland led off with a solo homer to left to make it 3-0.
Jake Swerdloff then parlayed an infield single with a steal of second and third, scoring on a Gosse' fielder's choice RBI to up the lead to 4-0. The Titans scratched out runs in the
fifth and sixth, but Shannon was too much on this evening as the Roughriders took Game One of the series. Game Two is scheduled for tomorrow night at Alcyon Park in Pitman. First pitch
is 7pm.

Roughriders 7, Titans Baseball 5 (8 innings)
August 3, 2021 Game 2 - Semi-Finals
PITMAN - Eric Sabato went 4-5, including the game-winning RBI in the eighth inning, to propel the Roughriders to a 7-5 win and a
trip to the 2021 TriCounty Finals. The game started off with the Roughs jumping out quickly, 4-0, in the second inning. Danny Vaquez walked, Shane Daly singled, and
Isaiah Ishmail walked to load the bases for Sabato, whose first hit of the game scored two for a 2-0 lead. Monny Strickland's two-out, RBI single scored Ishmail to
make it 3-0, and Sabato would score on a wild pitch for the 4-0 lead. But the Titans used a three-run third and a single tally in the sixth to knot the game at 4-4, sending the contest to extra innings. In the top
of the eighth, the Roughs worked some two out magic as Ishmail walked and stole second, setting up Sabato for his game winner which sent Ishmail home with the tie
breaking run. After Jim Bruno singled to right, Monny Strickland picked up his second RBI with a single to left scoring Sabato. Jake Swerdoff capped off the three-run
eighth with a single to score Bruno. Starter Drew Dark pounded the zone the entire game, pitching all eight innings (12 H, 4 ER, 1 BB, 6 K) to earn the win and help the Roughriders sweep the
Titans. Sabato finished with four hits, including three RBI, two runs, and two doubles.
